A Thousand Faces of Heimaeyjar is a cultural and art project.
Residents of Vestmannaeyjar, as well as those with a connection to the islands, are given the opportunity to come to a photo shoot and have their picture taken.
The photo shoot was free for participants.
The goal was to collect photos of 1000 faces of residents of Heimaeyjar, turn the photos into works of art and bring the artwork to the town as a gift.
Nearly 1500 people attended, the works that the town received as a gift can be seen above on the page.
The project's database was transferred to the Vestmannaeyjar Photography Museum.

The project is based on Bjarni's idea
Leturstofan supported the project by lending facilities and promoting it extensively on their media.
The project has received funding from Vestmannaeyjarbær: Eruption Recovery Committee and Viltu hafa þróður.
The project also received funding from SASS for cultural and innovation projects in South Iceland
and Karl Kristmanns Warehouse.

Þúsund andlit Heimaeyjar er menningar- og lista verkefni.
Íbúum Vestmannaeyja ásamt þeim sem hafa tengingu til eyja gefst kostur á að koma í myndatöku og fá mynd af sér.
Myndatakan var frí fyrir þátttakendur.
Markmiðið var að safna myndum af 1000 andlitum íbúum Heimaeyjar, gera úr myndunum listaverk og færa bænum listaverkin að gjöf.
Það mættu hátt í 1500 manns, verkin sem bærin fékk af gjöf sjást hér ofar á síðunni.
Gagnagrunnur verkefnisins var færður Ljósmyndasafni safn Vestmannaeyja til vörslu.
Verkin að ofan eru þau sem bærinn fékk að gjöf.
Verkefnið er unnið út frá hugmynd Bjarna
Leturstofan studdi við verkefnið með láni á aðstöðu og heljar mikilli kynningu á þeirra miðlum,
Verkefni hefur fengið styrk frá Vestmannaeyjabæ: Goslokanefnd og Viltu hafa áhrif.
Einnig hlaut verkefnið styrk frá SASS til menningar- og nýsköpunarverkefna á Suðurlandi
og Karl Kristmanns Heildverslun.
Sjónvarpsþátturinn “Landinn” fjallar um verkefnið. ( var sýnt í september 2021)
